2. Production of tubing

Piping for any purpose according to GOST is made of hot-rolled sheet of appropriate thickness. The tubing is seamless, as no seam can withstand such loads. The finished billet is pierced and drawn to the appropriate diameter.





At a distance of 40-60 cm from the edge of the finished product is marked. It indicates all the necessary information: alloy group - K, E, L, M, product mark, date and dimensional parameters. The marking makes it possible to quickly sort the pipeline and use it for its intended purpose.


Production of tubing is not limited to steel.



  • Steel of 30XMA, 30 and 20 grades with certain strength group is used for steel products manufacturing. Products that do not meet GOST standards are remelted.

The tubing is not made of stainless steel. To prevent corrosion, deposition of paraffins, gypsum, salts manufacturers use special compounds - varnishes, liquid glass, epoxy resins. The coating is applied on the inside surface of the pipeline.


Dimensions are regulated by GOST. Steel products are available in diameters of 27 to 114 mm, with wall thickness of 3 to 7 mm and of different lengths: the size of the segments can be up to 11, 5 m.





  • Columns made of aluminum alloys are much more lightweight, the length of installation sections are longer. Besides, aluminum alloys are highly resistant to corrosion, including hydrogen sulfide corrosion.




  • Fiberglass products are offered by producers for use in disposal and injection wells.




  • There are also flexible tubing strings with small diameter. They are used for workover and remedial operations without stopping the well, and allow reducing downtime to a minimum. The operation of coiled tubing is limited to a depth of 5,400 m and a fluid volume of up to 160 l/min.
