Электендіру өнеркәсібінде электр энергиясынын оның көзінен электр қабылдағыштарының жеткізу, тарату және басқару үшін әртүрлі қондырғылар мен құрылғыларды сым арқылы бірімен-бірін қосып электр тізбегін құрастырады.
Электр тізбегі деп электрлік үрдестері электр қозғаушысы күш ток және кернеу ұғымдарымен түсіндірілетін, электр тогы жүретін жол түзетін қондырғылар мен құрылғылардың жиынтығын айтады. Электр тізбегі үлкен үш бөліктен тұрады электр энергиясы көздерінен , электр энергиясын тасымалдаитын тарататын Һәм оны басқаратын қондырғылардын және электр қабылдағыштардын.
Электр энергиясының көзі деп басқа бір энергияны электр энергиясына түрлендіруге арналған қондырғыны немесе аспапты айтады. Мысалы аккумуляторы электр генераторы машина термоэлектр генераторы фотоэлемент ,т.б.
Электр энергиясын тасымалдайтын тарататын құрылғылар мен қондырғылар және басқаратын аспаптарға электр желілері, трансформаторлар, сақтандырғыштар, релелер,магниттік жібергіш т.c.c.жатады.
Трансформатор электр энергиясын кернеуі бойынша түрлендіруге және кернеуді реттеуге арналған электромагниттік құрылғы. Трансформатор сөзі латынша түрлендіру деген ұғымды білдіреді. Қазіргі түріндегі трансформаторды мадияр оқымыстылары М.Дери, О.Блати және К. Циперновскиийлер 1885 жылдары ойлап шығарған.
Трансформатор қажеттігі электр энергиясының оны таратқан кездегі шығынын азайту және сымдық материалды үнемдеу мақсатынан келіп туған.

Сақтандырғыш электр тізбектерін асқын жүктелуден және қысқа тұйықталу тогынан қорғауға арналған аспап. Құрылысының қарапайымдылығы , бағасы мен жегу шығындарының арзандығы , мөлшерінің кішілігі , ажыратқыштық қабілетінің жоғарлығы оны кең қолдануға мүмкін етті. Сақтандырғыштың әрекеттік парқы ондағы балқығыш қыстырғының токтың әсерінен қатты қызып, балқып үзілуіне негізделген.
Сыртқы пішінінің әр түрлілігіне қарамастан , сақтандырғыш ( 2- сурет)негізінде тұрықтан (1), балқығыш қыстырғыдан (2), түйіскелік элементтен (3) және доға сөндіргіш ортадан (4) тұрады.
Сақтандырғыштың қалыпты (түзік) жұмысы кезінде қыстырғының қызуы қалыптасқан күйге келеді, яғни қыстырғы қанша жылу бөліп шығарса , сонша жылу одан әкетіліп отырады да қыстырғының температурасы , жалпы алғанда сақтандырғыштың температурасы , тұрақты болып қалады. Міне осы температурасының қалыптасқан күйінде ғана сақтандырғыш ұзақ мерзімде жұмыс істей алады.
