a) Omar started playing the dombra 15 minutes ago.
He is still playing the dombra.


He has been playing the dombra for 15 minutes.

b) Asel started singing at 12 o'clock.
Asel is still singing It's 12:30.


Asel has been singing for half an hour.

c) Victor started reading at 4 o'clock in the afternoon.
He is reading now. It's 5:30 now.


He has been reading since 4 o'clock

Read and remember! Present Perfect Continuous

Jennifer and Asel have been talking for 25 minutes.

They started speaking 25 minutes ago.

They are still talking.

They have been talking since 4 o'clock.

Use the Present Perfect Continuous and for or since for each of th( following situations.

a. My friend started reading an interesting book a month ago. He is still reading it. He has been reading the book since last month.

b. Dmitry started playing chess when he was 10 and he is still playing it.

.............'....'.. t since he was 10.

с Victor began writing a letter to his pen-friend in the U.K. last week and he is still writing it.

since last week.

d. Omar's father started driving his car when he was 20 and he is still driving it.

since he was 20.

e. Carol's father began learning Kazakh 7 months ago. He is still learning Kazakh.

for 7 months.

f. Dmitry started learning Kazakh a year ago. He is still learning it.

Dmitry since last year.

g. Our teacher began telling us a story about school children of Britain at 3 o'clock. He's still telling us the story. It is interesting. It's now 3:45.

for 45 minutes.

I haven’t been anywhere in summer. I have visited my grandmother in Bath. Bath is a beautiful town. It's very old. You have been to the USA, haven't you? I hope you have been to a lot of places of 'interest. What's your favourite sport? I love volleyball but I am not very good at it. I started an interesting book. I've been reading it since last week. What's your favourite sport? The weather is good here, it has been getting cooler. I like this weather and what about you?

Hello! Where have you been? For a long time I haven't received any line from you. I have got a lot of news. I I've been to Italy and France. I enjoyed my trip. But it was a short-stay. I have been to different places of interest there. I have learned some words and phrases in Italian and French. In my town Bristol I could find 3-4 Italians and talk to them. I have enclosed a picture of my self. I t was my birthday last Saturday. It was a great day! Hove my birthday! I play the guitar. Do you play any musical instrument? Well, that's all for now. The policemen got out of the car. Frank got out too. The constable held his arm tightly. The sergeant went into the garden; lie looked around for some time. Then he came back. He was holding a 'There's no one there, 'the sergeant said. 'But I found these old newspapers.'

'That's them,' shouted Frank. 'Something was wrapped in those newspapers. Just then a motorbike drove up towards the police car.

'That's him,' shouted Frank excitedly. 'That's the guy. He bought a motorbike with my money.'

'Stop,' the sergeant called to Stuart. 'Stop.'

Stuart did not see Frank.

'What do the police want?' Stuart asked himself. I haven't don anything wrong. I'm driving correctly.

Stuart stopped the bike by the side of the road. He took off his helmet.

'Is that bike yours' the sergeant asked him.

'Yes, it's mine,' replied Stuart. I bought it at the garage down the road.'

Then Stuart saw Frank.
